Two papers from the defense-equipment projects appeared in the Proceedings of the 22nd Congress of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA 2024), published by Springer Nature Singapore in 2025.
“Design Guidelines for Special Forces Sleeping Bags: Addressing User Needs in South Korea” (Vol. 6, pp. 209–217), first author. Based on desk research, benchmarking, interviews with four outdoor and sleeping-bag experts, and interviews and a 24-item survey with 12 Special Warfare Command personnel, it sets out guidelines for sleeping in temperatures down to −35 °C: hybrid insulation, modular and detachable parts, hot-pack pockets, and a balance of warmth, weight and compactness.
“Device Design for Measuring Weight Distribution Performance of Military Backpacks” (Vol. 5, pp. 447–452), co-author. It describes a load-cell device that measures how much of a pack's load reaches the shoulders and how much the pelvis, tested with a 35.1 kg military backpack.
Both projects were carried out with NH Co., Ltd. under Korea's civil–military technology cooperation program.
