Two papers appeared in the proceedings of IASDR 2025 in Taipei.
“Exploring the Role and Syntax of User Scenario Elements: Toward a Structured Framework for User-Centered Engineering Specifications”, with Prof. KwanMyung Kim. From a workshop in which two interdisciplinary teams of four used the Action Steps framework, it proposes three layers of scenario content: behavioral elements (user and system actions) that anchor functional requirements, contextual elements (goals, settings, tools) that need measurable phrasing, and constraint elements (numeric targets, error cases) that make validation possible.
“A Component-Based Approach for Developing Actions in Non-Humanoid Elderly Care Robots”, led by Danyal Sarfraz with Prof. KwanMyung Kim. It designs the motion of the two-wheeled robot Lemmy from components (speed, posture, path and turn type), using preference tests with 25 older adults and a validation with 15 more. Actions built from the preferred components were rated better than other combinations.
At the conference I also co-facilitated the hands-on workshop “Designing Personality of Social Robots”.
