Context
The SOS (Scenario-Oriented Specification) tool turns my PhD method into software. Teams move through six confirmed steps — scenario elements, interaction sequences, functional requirements, components, engineering specifications and spatial integration. AI proposes draft outputs, a person must accept each one, and every artifact is tagged as AI, manual or hybrid and traced back to the user actions that justified it.
Features
The tool is designed so that AI does the bookkeeping while the expert keeps every decision:
- AI drafts stay provisional until a person confirms them, and every item shows whether it came from AI, was entered manually or both.
- Decision challenges prompt a second look at safety and feasibility, and each target value carries a maturity level.
- Trace links tie requirements, components and specifications back to the user actions behind them, and a discussion view keeps the reasons for decisions.
- A visual board lights up everything upstream and downstream of a selected item, and items can be merged across scenarios.
It exports to JSON, Excel, a printable report or an SVG visual board, supports English and Korean, and keeps all data in the user's browser.
My role
I designed and programmed the tool myself and facilitated the two formative workshops whose findings shaped its requirements. It was evaluated in a user study submitted to CHI 2027; the results will be shared here once the paper has been reviewed.
Outcomes
Working web tool (v0.7x) used in a user evaluation; CHI 2027 submission.
